  (Match Report: Marc Lovatt)

A first time fixture between Stonor and Crazies Hill made for an exciting, entertaining and high-scoring game as both sides took advantage of the superbly presented wicket; the added attractions of the Volkswagen Rally in the park and the arrival of the Air Ambulance made for an interesting day.

Batting first the home team lost two quick wickets but then the arrival of super nurdler, John Powell (64) and the new evenly tempered Olly Nicholson (98 not out) put on a strong partnership of 160 before the bowlers got their just rewards with a couple of late wickets. Late on the old head Neil Brown came in to slog a quick 19 in the last two overs giving the hosts a good total of 226.

The visitors were also subject to a quick wicket at the beginning of their innings before Hopkins came on to score a well crafted 119. Strong middle order batting from Montgomery added to a keen run chase.  Stonors dogged bowling and tenacious fielding managed to keep the scoring to a minimum which ended up leaving Crazies last two batsmen the unenviable task of 12 from the last over. In the end a draw was
certainly the right result having seen nearly 450 runs and 15 wickets all with good spirit both teams
looking forward to next year's fixture.
