  One 'ell of a show!

After a solid start by Stonor's opening pair, the touring Sons of Bacchus pace attack made light work of Stonor's middle order, assisted by some rash strokeplay. It took a determined 80 run partnerhsip between Dan Fennell and Jez Mayo to steady the ship and present a defendable total. Mayo has now produced 5 scores over fifty in only 7 innings this season.

After tea the Bacchus batsmen fell at regular intervals, initially to the metronomic Pennell, ably supported by the pace of Nathan Hopkins. John Powell's nagging line and Dan Fennell's flight and guile then did for the remainder, with a win being secured with 9 overs to spare. Credit must go to Bacchus for continuing to play their shots rather than blocking out for a draw. As the last wicket fell, the scorecard revealed that the wicket-taking bowlers had put on one 'ell of a performance.

Stonor's next game is the local derby versus Turville Park who have recently come to the end of a successful run in the Village Cup competition.
