What a fantastic advert for limited overs cricket! Unfortunately, this was a traditional time game.

In a game dominated by the home side, but lacking the penetrative bowling required to achieve a result, a draw was probably fair. Hambleden won the toss and inserted Stonor on a pitch that looked like it could be helpful to the Hambleden bowlers. Not the case a magnificent opening partnership of 150 between Denton jnr and Stick put Stonor firmly in the driving seat. Denton played cautiously early on and was rewarded for his patience by carving to all parts of the ground once acclimatized, finally being run out for an excellent 76. At the other end Stick, after struggling to find gaps in the Hambleden fielding early on, started to time the ball nicely and ended the innings unbeaten on 67. Hunt, in his fiftieth season playing for Stonor, also helped himself to his first runs of the year and finished unbeaten on 12.

In reply Hambleden started brightly with some positive batting by Rosier being rewarded by a combination of luck and good placement. However once Agar and Nicholson had removed Millar and French cheaply the impetus was lost. Bradford rebuilt the innings with Rosier but
the latter then fell on 39 to an excellent in-cutter by Slade and when Bradford was trapped
in front, again by Agar, Hambleden lost interest and finished 90 runs short on 109 4.
